North Carolina BRFSS Follow-up Survey on Disability Measurement (1999)

The National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH) and the Centers for Disease Control, in working with the Behavioral Risk Factors Surveillance System (BRFSS), devised several survey screener items that were designed to identify individuals with disabilities. The SRU tested these questions using a sample of North Carolina BRFSS respondents, including both a group who previously had identified themselves as disabled, limited in activity, or requiring the use of special equipment; and a control group. The SRU completed 423 CATI interviews in October and November of 1999 as part of this methodological study.
