Medicaid Utilization by African-Americans in Selected Communities in North Carolina

This study focused on identifying the key factors that explain why African-Americans underutilize Medicaid services. In one phase of the study, they interviewed staff from North Carolina A&T State University (A&T) and three other historically black universities (St. Augustine, North Carolina Central University, Fayetteville State University) and conducted 534 face-to-face interviews with Medicaid eligible individuals in four North Carolina communities. SRU tasks included questionnaire design and consultation, data entry, and data analysis which includes preparation of an analysis report describing survey findings and limitations.
