National Study of Determinants of Women's Choices of Self-protection Strategies

This study’s goals were to assess the perceptions of women in the US about their risks of victimization by interpersonal violence and their attitudes about various personal safety strategies. The study was designed to explore women's choices of self-protection devices and their beliefs about their potential risks and benefits of these choices. Working with a RDD sample, SRU interviewers conducted a 20-minute CATI interview with 1,800 women nationwide. SRU data collection took place April - July 1996.
